Our Class

Time Table

Our Work

Class 3C

Welcome back after the Easter holidays! We hope you have all had a fabulous break. Our Third topic will be ’Off with their heads’. As part of this we will be studying the

Tudors and Henry VIII in detail. The topic will be brought to life by visiting the Royal Armouries in Leeds for an exciting day going back in time and carrying out some Tudor activities! The children will be delivering an assembly this term based on the Tudors which is very exciting.

In numeracy we will be focusing on the basic skills of mathematics still as it is vital we know these and as always we will  practise applying these methods through problem solving.  We will also be focusing on fractions,  2D and 3D shapes, data and graphs, angles and a variety of problem solving activities . It would be great if you could continue to practise times tables at home on a daily basis with your children as they need a big push on these. Knowing their times tables helps them so much in class.

In R.E. our topics are ‘Celebrating Easter and Pentecost and ‘Being a Christian’.

In science we will be investigating forces and magnets, looking in to light and plants and carrying out some great investigations around these subject areas. . This will be linked to our topic as much as possible.

Year 3 will be doing PE on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The only jewellery permitted in school is a pair of plain small stud earrings and these do have to be removed for PE for safety. Please ensure your child has a PE kit in school at all times.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and must be completed and returned to school by the following Thursday.

Can I please remind parents that individual reading books need to be brought in school on a daily basis so your child can read every day in school. Can we please ask that reading records are signed when you have read with your child at home. We encourage as much reading as possible, this can be with library books your child brings home, independent reading books, First News newspaper, shopping list etc basically anything. Thank you for your support with this.

We look forward to the very exciting term ahead

Thank you in advance for your continued support with everything we do in Year 3

This term we have started circuit training in P.E. Each week we will be looking to improve our record on stations including: Press Ups, Wall Sits, Standing Long Jump and the 10m Dash.

After a fantastic first lesson we are all looking forward to improving our strength, agility and stamina as well as our results.

Today we have been using all we have learnt in maths to compare both the lengths and widths of items found in the classroom. We initially scoured the classroom for an interesting object before measuring other items against it and deciding which was the smaller or larger.

We needed to concentrate a lot and use precise measurement, otherwise, our finding would be wrong.

Today we were measuring in cm and mm and look forward to getting our metre sticks and trundle wheel out soon!
